Ultrasound technology and utilization in the Emergency Department have improved drastically over the last several decades. Providers in the Emergency Department are now routinely using Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to diagnose complex and time-sensitive disease processes, and competency in the use of POCUS is becoming the mainstay of any well-trained Emergency Medicine provider. StreetUltrasound aims to extend this capability into the hands of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provider, so that patients can receive life-saving interventions in the pre-hospital setting.

We will be utilizing portable ultrasound technology deployed in the field in the Texas area, under the leadership of StreetUltrasound team.

We aim to train the paramedics of Texas with both didactic and simulation models in the techniques of POCUS, and quality control of these images will be handled by the ultrasound faculty of McGovern Emergency Medicine at Houston, TX.
